Staff Bio:

Sarah Schulte - Director

Sarah Schulte began her career as a Resource Specialist with San Diego Unified School District in 2003. She has been an educator in City Heights for many years. Sarah was an Education Specialist at Joyner Elementary, a MTSS District Resource Teacher, and the Instructional Coordinator at Mann Middle School. 

Sarah is super excited to be leading the School in the Park (SITP) team. She is a firm believer that “Play is the work of children'' {-Mister Rogers}. Sarah is excited to lead work that involves students learning in a hands-on, experiential environment that both engages and inspires them to become what they want in our world. As the SITP director, Sarah is responsible for guiding the vision for the program as well as leading and managing all areas of SITP. Each week she visits classrooms and collaborates with the museums’ educational staff, classroom teachers, and individual students to ensure that the SITP program is operating in an efficient manner that focuses on students' success. 

Sarah was born in Flagstaff Arizona and spent her early childhood years in Winslow before moving to Peoria, AZ for elementary, middle, and high school. Sarah went to the University of Arizona in Tucson (Bear Down!) for her undergraduate and master’s degree. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education with a minor in Science and a master’s degree specializing in the area of Learning Disabilities. Sarah also has her administrative credential from San Diego State University.

In her spare time, Sarah likes to go on adventures with her family that include roller coasters, hiking, and lots of laughter! Sarah has two children and a husband that she met at the University of Arizona. She also has two cats and a dog. 

Interests: Playing video games & board games, playing claw machines, going on vacations with family, and walking/hiking
